But I LOVE zotfile in every way for extracting annotations. And if I attach as URI, I can't extract annotations, rename, do anything-and it's a laborious manual process. When I save something as an attached link, I can't access it from any other machine. And I hate giving up control over how it's stored. I tried really hard to make Zotero work, but when I save an article as a stored copy on their WebDAV system, I can't figure out how to save edits/annotations to PDFs.

I tend to work across 2-3 computers (both windows and apple) and sometimes a tablet or phone. I've been trying different reference managers, and was sure I'd find one I'd like by now, but it seems like most/all rely on some sort of WebDAV system or save copies somewhere else so if I try to access my annotations from another computer I actually can't see my edits. All my files are saved in a folder with subdirectories on Dropbox. My current workflow is that I annotate usually on my macbook (sometimes on a tablet or a windows machine) using Adobe Acrobat Reader. I'm looking for suggestions on a good reference manager that plays well with Dropbox.
